QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR BIG D WATERSPORTS
Who may rent a boat/wave runner? A boat/wave runner may be rented by anyone that is 21 years of age, has a current driver’s license and a valid credit card (debit cards may be used for payment, but the security deposit or damage waiver must be authorized on a valid credit card).

What is the minimum amount of time I may rent a boat/jet ski? During the week, a boat may rented for a minimum of 2 hours. During the weekend, a boat may be rented for a minimum of 4 hours. A wave runner may be rented anytime for a minimum of 1 hour. Holiday and holiday weekends excluded for boats, but does not apply to jet skis.
Are life-jackets provided? Yes, standard, regulation life-jackets are provided.
Are water toys provided? Water toys are not provided, but they may be rented for a minimal fee.
Are pets allowed on the boat/jet ski? No pets are permitted on any boat/jet ski.
Is fishing allowed on the boats? Yes, fishing is permitted on designated fishing boats.
Is food and beverage allowed on the boat? Yes, but no glass containers. If you have glass, please pour it into a plastic/paper container. If we find glass on the boat/jet ski, you will be charged an additional $50.
Do you provide a captain to drive the boat? A captain is not provided to drive the boat. The renter is responsible for captaining (driving) the boat.
Do the boats have radios? Yes, all boats have radios and some have MP3 and iPod adaptors.
Is fuel provided? The boat/wave runner is provided to the renter with a full tank of fuel and the renter is responsible to top off any fuel he/she uses.
Where do I fuel the boat/jet ski? Fuel is available at the marina where you pick-up and return the boat/jet ski.
How do I make a reservation? Simply contact the central office at 214.705.3905 during normal business hours and make a reservation. Full payment is expected at the time of the reservation. Your payment is your deposit. The reservation/payment is non-refundable. A six-month rain check is provided on all cancelations with at least 24 hours notice of the scheduled reservation; otherwise, the reservation is void.
How do I hold a reservation? Full payment is due at the time of the reservation and is non-refundable; your payment is your deposit and is the only way to “hold” a reservation.
What if I need to cancel my reservation? Notify the central office at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled reservation and you will receive a six-month rain check, if not, the reservation is void. All reservations are non-refundable.
What is the security deposit? A refundable $300 security deposit is required on all boats/jet skis and must be placed on a valid credit card (no debit cards accepted for the security deposit). If one does damage to a boat/wave runner, he/she forfeits the $300 security deposit and is responsible for all damages. For example, one sinks the boat/jet ski, he/she is required to replace the boat/wave runner for equal or greater value.
What is a damage waiver? Instead of the security deposit, you may opt for the $100 damage waiver. The damage waiver is non-refundable. If one does damage to a boat/wave runner, and is not negligent, he/she is only responsible for up to $100 of the damage repair. Also referred to as the “peace of mind waiver”.
What if I damage a boat/jet ski? It depends on what type of security option you take on the boat/wave runner. Please see above for an explanation of the security deposit and damage waiver.
What if I’m late for my reservation? If you are more than 30 minutes late for your schedule reservation and our office has not heard from you, your reservation will be cancelled w/o a rain check. If you are running late and we are aware of it, no problem, we will hold your reservation. However, you will not be allotted additional time to your reservation. For example, if your reservation is 1 to 5 and you don’t arrive until 2, the boat/wave runner is still due back at 5.
What if I’m late returning the boat/wave runner and my rental time has expired? If you are late in returning your boat/wave runner, you will be charged $50 for every 15 minutes the boat/wave runner is not at the dock – NO EXCEPTIONS!
Am I responsible for cleaning the boat/jet ski? The boat/wave runner is provided to you clean and you are required to return it as such – picked -up and all trash removed from the boat/jet ski. If you return the boat/jet ski dirty and it requires additional cleaning, you will be charged a $50 minimum cleaning fee. If the boat/jet ski is returned “trashed”, you will be charged a $100 minimum cleaning fee.
May I keep a boat/wave runner over night? No boat/jet ski may be retained after dusk; this includes overnight.
Are the boat/jet ski in the water or do I need to trailer the vessel? All boat/wave runners are housed at a marina, in a slip and do not require trailering.
May I trailer the boat/wave runner to another lake? No boat/jet ski may be trailered to anohter body of water.
